About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles at 543 S Western Ave, Moobongri Soondae is a must-visit destination for lovers of authentic Korean cuisine, specializing in traditional Soondae—Korean blood sausage—alongside an impressive array of hearty and flavorful dishes. Whether you crave the comforting warmth of a spicy Soondae soup or the sizzling excitement of their table cook special, this restaurant delivers an immersive dining experience that captures the essence of true Korean flavors.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly their Spicy Pork Meat Soup and various Soondae dishes, including the popular Chal Soondae, which boasts a natural pork casing stuffed with glass noodles and pork blood, seasoned to perfection with black pepper and spices. For those who enjoy a deeper, richer broth, their Soondae Gukbap (blood sausage rice soup) offers a thick, satisfying warmth that stays with you long after the last spoonful.

One of Moobongri Soondae’s standout offerings is the Chal Soondae Chulpan, a table-side spectacle where sautéed soondae mingles with rice cake, vegetables, and flavorful stomach meat. Enhanced by chewy jjolmyeon noodles and a sweet-spicy gochujang sauce, this dish culminates with fried rice that perfectly soaks up every bit of the sauce’s complexity. This dish is not only a feast for the palate but also an engaging communal experience, ideal for groups seeking both flavor and fun.

Beyond soondae, their menu is a celebration of Korean comfort food staples. Try their Samgyeopsal (pork belly), fresh kimchi togo, or hearty stews like Beef Soup and Chicken Soup. Even the sides, such as Yogurt and Kkakdugi (spicy radish kimchi), are thoughtfully prepared to elevate each bite.

The atmosphere at Moobongri Soondae is casual and vibrant, perfect for a quick lunch or a lively evening meal. As one satisfied customer, Kwok Lau, notes, it’s a bright, no-frills spot that prioritizes authenticity and quality over ambiance, frequented by Korean locals who know their food. If you’re after a romantic dinner setting, this might not be the place, but for an honest, filling meal that feels like a warm embrace, it’s unbeatable.

Frequent diners rave about Moobongri Soondae’s clean, fresh flavors with special praise for their spicy soondae soup. Yeonjin Hur highlighted the impeccable balance of spices without the usual gaminess sometimes found in intestine-based dishes, making every bowl a delight. Michael Chang, a loyal patron, swears by the ToJong Soondae, noting its superior taste over the regular soondae and expressing how it’s worth traveling to Los Angeles just for this spot.

With generous portions, reasonable prices, and a menu rooted in genuine Korean culinary traditions, Moobongri Soondae is a true gem for anyone eager to explore Korean flavors beyond the usual BBQ fare. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or a curious newcomer, their dishes promise a soulful, satisfying journey through the rich textures and bold spices of Korea’s beloved soondae cuisine.

Don’t forget to ask your server about takeout options, especially for their spectacular table cook specials like the Chal Soondae Chulpan, though availability may vary. For an authentic taste of Korea’s comforting and hearty dishes, Moobongri Soondae is an essential stop in LA’s vibrant Koreatown.

Lunch place for some Korean food! It was very nice food and traditional. Many Koreans go here. It's a lunch place with very bright lights so don't expect a romantic dinner place. I have some of the stew soups and soondae. Great place. Would go back at night to eat their BBQ next door.

The food was so good! I had spicy Soondae soup, and it was just a good amount of spiciness and saltiness. Sometimes, intestines can taste or smell gamy, but this place has clean taste!!

One of the best and meatiest galbitang in the area. The prices are really good for galbitang. I also thought that the seolongtang soup was milky and thick which is great. Kimchi is good as well.

One of my regulars, when it comes to spicy sundaeguk, this is definitely the place. I've been going to this place since it was in front of Kim's Electric, on Olympic Road. I go to this place when I go to Vegas, and I go to this place when I go to San Diego. It's one of my favorite restaurants. Tip: To-Jong Sun-Dae is tastier than just the regular Sun-Dae.

Genuine korean food! I’m surprised how low the rating is. The sundae is sooo good, broth is thick. Kimchi is fresh! 장사 더 잘되세요!!

Wow, so delicious. I wanted some good food for lunch before studying at M3 nearby and this place is tucked into the corner of the same strip mall. The woman was very nice and recommended the Beef Galbi-Tang, which was so delicious and had a perfectly rich broth. It came with good portions of kimchi and radish kimchi, rice, and a dipping sauce for the meat in the soup. I will definitely be ordering here again on chilly days.

The place was just ok. Clean, lots of table. My wife had spicy pork meat soup. It wasn’t that good. The pork was cooked so long that pork flavor is gone. She explained to them that it wasn’t good and they replaced it with something else. That was nice of them. Service was great and the waitress explains what it is you eating. I had calbi tang was tasty and the broth is delicious.

Came here in July with wife. This place is always packed on the weekend with 1.5 hour wait, so we decided to visit on weekday. Two noticable things. One, the food wasn't as good as I expected. Between baekjeong and moobongri, I choose former anyday. The price is a bit lower than other bbq, but perhaps that's why bbq wasn't as tasty as I expected. Second, the employees are all nice. It's a rare thing for a company to hire all extroverts to be a server. I felt very welcomed coming here. Its unfortunate the food wasn't up to the standard I would hold for bbq
